Contract for Posted Roads

WHEREAS, the TOWN OF SWISS has determined that heavy trucks operating on the roads in their judgment are likely to cause injury to said town roads; and

WHEREAS the undersigned operator is desirous of operating heavy trucks on the town roads within the TOWN OF SWISS;

NOW, THEREFOR, in consideration of the mutual covenants herein, and specifically according to Section 86.02 (allows the township the right to collect three times the actual cost of repairing the roads) and 349.16 (road restrictions) of the Wisconsin Statutes, the parties agree as follows:

That all operators of heavy trucks shall have permission to use the roads within the TOWN OF SWISS provided they will reimburse the TOWN OF SWISS for the cost of all repairs for any damage done to the Town Roads by the operation of their trucks within two weeks of demand by the TOWN OF SWISS. Failure of the operators to pay the damages as required by this contract within two (2) weeks shall result in the operator being barred from hauling loads on all TOWN OF SWISS roads.

It is not the intention of the TOWN OF SWISS to make it difficult for private enterprise. However, it is our responsibility to safeguard and preserve the roads in their present condition and encourage you to help us in the endeavor.
